Passive House Principles: Minimal Thermal bridging, with a simple envelope shape. R32 minimum walls and robust air tightness numbers. High Efficiency Heat pump system with supplemental gas heating.
Minimal Land Disturbance: The Adjacent vineyard was preserved and protected, as well as the neighboring property. Exterior light disturbance in accordance with Naramata Night Sky.
Focus on Quality: High-quality materials and finishes were chosen for their durability and minimal environmental impact.
Custom Detailing: Traditional farmhouse design details blended seamlessly with modern amenities. Central Two storey Fireplace with Natural fieldstone. White Oak Wideplank flooring and exposed rafters.
A sloping site with grade differential between living space and the detached garage. Access needed to be robust and low maintenance, the solution was a raised Pool Patio to the south and extensive concrete work on the North side for Mudroom access.
The Steel Rd home was an exercise in blending “Old World” craft to modern building science. An extremely efficient home without compromising on traditional look and feel.
